Save Lolita. Save_Lolita.
Originally named Tokitae, Lolita is the oldest orca in captivity. She was captured on August 8th 1970 in Penn Cove. She has been used as a slave for entertainment ever since at the Miami Seaquarium. They keep her in the "Whale Bowl", a tank deemed illegally small by the Animal Welfare Act. Lolita is a member of the Southern Residents, an endangered group of orca. Her mother is Ocean Sun L-25, and estimated to be over 80 years of age. Lolita still speaks in her native calls, and seems to be interested in their recordings. This blog is to shed some awareness on not only Lolita's situation, but of all captive marine mammals in the world, and the state of our beautiful oceans, including Taiji updates as soon as possible.
