Originally named Tokitae, Lolita is the oldest orca in captivity. She was captured on August 8th 1970 in Penn Cove. She has been used as a slave for entertainment ever since at the Miami Seaquarium. They keep her in the "Whale Bowl", a tank deemed illegally small by the Animal Welfare Act. Lolita is a member of the Southern Residents, an endangered group of orca. Her mother is Ocean Sun L-25, and estimated to be over 80 years of age. Lolita still speaks in her native calls, and seems to be interested in their recordings.
Lummi K7 was the matriarch of K pod, always up front leading the way and with the two notches on the trailing edge of her dorsal fin, she was easy to identify. She was estimated to have been born in 1910 and went missing in 2008.
